I wanted to use stamps, geometric shapes and transparent paint to capture the colors of my daughter-in-loves wedding. Her love of everything Asian, Japanese, Anime, is expressed in the hair ornaments and the webbing coming from her ear an homage to Spiderman. Rasha is not particularly fond of gold, but layering it in with the silver and grey and rose brings out the harmony of the piece for me.
My DIL is an artist, she paints mostly in watercolor and that was another inspiration for using a medium to make my paint more fluid. I am heavy-handed so blending is not my favorite technique when I choose to work a piece with a light touch I find myself using “lighter” paint colors. This is “Rasha’s Colors”
This is my homage to Klimt. My favorite master. I am absolutely picky when it comes to old time artists. Klimt wins on all accounts. I am not classically trained, I have only been painting three years. I haven’t studied art in school, just admired and been to museums, read books, watched videos, movies, etc.
My love for Klimt is his love for and complex capture of women. Everything from the pose to hair to clothing and ornaments. He gets nuance. All of my paintings have subtle and overt messages in them. Some are hidden, some are just for me, and some you can find. I feel that way about Klimt. He sends messages through his art. This is “Klimtspiration”.
